Las primeras reacciones ante el sexto foco de Xylella fastidiosa no se han hecho esperar. ASAJA Alicante y la Plataforma de Afectados de la Xylella Fastidiosa (AXFA) consideran que la Conselleria de Agricultura sigue actuando “como pollo sin cabeza” en su lucha contra la Xylella., a la vez que critican que arrancar 35.000 almendros no va a acabar con esta plaga y sí con el 25% del cultivo en la provincia.
Esta crítica la hacen porque, sin saber aún cuál es el alcance real de la plaga, puesto que de 12.000 muestras no se han llegado a analizar ni 8.000, afirman que la bacteria está localizada. “Ya han arrancado 46 parcelas con 2.250 almendros y quedan por triturar unos 35.000 árboles, con lo que, si siguen apareciendo focos, que es lo más probable por pura estadística, van a acabar de un plumazo con la agricultura de secano de las zonas de interior y con uno de nuestros cultivos más emblemáticos, sin tener claro si lograrán erradicar la plaga», denuncia el presidente de ASAJA Alicante, Eladio Aniorte.

Igualamente, Aniorte añade que «las tres comarcas afectadas suman un total de 4.700 hectáreas de almendro de secano, por lo que triturar 1.200 ha supone exterminar el 25% del cultivo, con solo seis focos declarados que se espera que vayan en aumento. En municipios como Tàrbena y Xalò van a destruir prácticamente el 100% de las plantaciones, causando un daño económico, paisajístico, turístico y moral irreparable”.
Desde ASAJA Alicante y AXFA hacen un llamamiento a todos los alcaldes de los municipios afectados para que tomen partida en el asunto. “Durante las próximas semanas vamos a reunirnos con los alcaldes de las zonas con positivos y queremos que se posicionen firmemente. Nos parece aberrante que la Conselleria diga que estamos ante casos aislados y que la bacteria está localizada cuando abarca ya desde Vall de Alcalá hasta Altea”, afirma el portavoz de AXFA, Adolfo Ribes.

Ambas organizaciones consideran que, llegados a este punto de extensión de la bacteria, y cuando se prevé que salgan muchos más positivos, es el momento de que el Gobierno valenciano pase del plan de erradicación al de contención.
Además, creen que el plan de contención es mucho más riguroso, ya que se arrancan solo los árboles infectados o sospechosos y se realizan análisis en las zonas afectadas dos veces al año. “Estamos seguros de que estamos solos en el plan de contención por una mera 
cuestión económica. Los afectados opinamos que el Consell no nos apoya en el plan de contención porque la Unión Europea solo aporta fondos económicos para el plan de erradicación (y no aporta dinero para el plan de contención) y, por eso, persisten en aplicarlo a rajatabla. De pasar a un plan de contención, debe ser la propia Conselleria la que financie con recursos propios las actuaciones para controlar la plaga”, explica Ribes.
ASAJA y AXFA quieren denunciar públicamente la persecución y el atropello que los afectados están sufriendo por parte del Consell, que en cada reunión, según ambas organizaciones, muestra más ánimo destructivo, «simplemente por oponernos a una situación con la que no estamos de acuerdo y pedir más información. Esta Administración ha demostrado tener una falta indiscutible de lealtad y compromiso con la provincia de Alicante”, lamentan desde AXFA.
